The Gansu Jiandu Museum is a thematic museum in China with the largest collection of "Jiandu" of Han Dynasty and a national public welfare first-class thematic museum. "Jiandu" are the bamboo and wooden slips on which ancient Chinese people wrote using ink and brushes before the invention of paper.

The Gansu Jiandu Museumm collects 50,129 pieces (groups) of various cultural relics, 1,679 pieces (groups) among them are classified as first-class national cultural relics. The collection houses nearly 40,000 pieces of bamboo slips dating back to the Qin Dynasty and Western Jin Dynasty, and more than 10,000 pieces of artifacts, including paper, textiles, woodenware, lacquerware and ironware.

The basic exhibition of Gansu Jiandu Museum introduces in detail the categories of bamboo and wooden slips, art and literature classics, the form and production of bamboo and wooden slips, comprehensively display the historical glory of the Silk Road, leading the audience to explore the magnificent "Silk Road" stories recorded in the slips and experience the artistic beauty of the ink on the bamboo slips.
